Successful completion of these classes qualifies the student to take the class exams for the 101, 110 & 201 classes. Next the student must pass the Music & Post Production Operator Certification exams, & the 310M & 310P computer exams. Once these exams are passed, the student will be eligible to take the Digidesign Music & Post Production Expert-level proficiency exams. The proficiency exams are 4-6 hours hands on exams administered by an Expert instructor at Future Rhythm in both Music & Post Production. All exams are scheduled by appointment after required classes are complete. Hands on Exam fee not included.

Equipment: Student equipment includes a desktop or laptop computer and required Digidesign software and hardware along with required Plug-In software for use during class.

• Know Pro Tools automation modes, practices and techniques
• Do a Final mixdown and layback, including use of dither
• Understand MIDI tools and techniques
• Know advanced file formats, including OMF translation, import/export and batch processing
• Perform Advanced Music Editing, including advanced audio and MIDI editing, retiming and conforming, and multiple playlist editing
• Know advanced Post Editing, including source/destination editing, advanced editing tools, fixed-head playback techniques, and editing of automation data to picture
• Know & perform advanced Mixing, including groups, stems, sub mixes with advanced automation modes, surround bussing, cue mixes, and panning techniques
• Understand synchronization, including machine control, multiple decks, offsets, etc.
• Learn Digital picture integration with an emphasis on AV Option and working with Avid media
• Understand control surfaces for post applications
• Understand the basics of surround sound for post
• Know advanced OMF applications and workflows with Avid video editing systems
• Know advanced Post Editing, including speed techniques for dialog, music and effects editing, such as working with multiple audio tracks in groups and playlists
• Know advanced Mixing, including surround sound, multiple simultaneous mixes and downmixing
• Understand Music specific software instrument functionality, operation, and integration
• Understand extensive key commands, using the Pro Tools keyboard as an edit controller
• Understand synchronization, including troubleshooting of incorrect sample rates, frame rates and clock references
• Learn editing tools focused on Avid picture
• Understand advanced control surfaces for music & post applications
• Understand collaboration options, functionality and techniques, including Digi Delivery and sharing Pro Tools sessions with others
