Entertainment software is one of the fastest growing industries in the U.S. economy. In fact, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers, the sector remains "one of the above-average growth segments of the global entertainment industries through 2011." This success has generated increased interest in the industry's educational and career opportunities. The ESA says the increase in programs reflects an increase in gaming , with 67% of U.S. households now playing computer and video games. Games are establishing a growing presence business, healthcare and education; 70% of "major employers" use interactive software and games for training, 75% of non-profits use games for employee education The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) is the U.S. association dedicated to serving the business and public affairs needs of companies that publish computer and video games for video game consoles, personal computers, and the Internet. More than 200 colleges, universities and technical schools in the United States offer programs and courses in video game design and development. From New York University to the Art Institute of Seattle, academic institutions from coast to coast are offering programs in this growing field. The Entertainment Software Association Foundation has established a scholarship program to help train and educate the next generation of video game developers and designers.
